What qualifies me to work on your project?

I have been a medical writer for over 13 years and a full-time independent contractor for over a decade. Most of my work involves writing and editing CME content, needs assessments for educational grant proposals, healthcare news, and patient education materials. Occasionally, I am asked to help author scholarly journal articles and work on other projects.

I know what it takes to effectively communicate medical and scientific information to diverse audiences, ranging from specialist physicians to patients with limited health literacy.

I have a BA in English, and with a doctorate in veterinary medicine from Tufts University, I ran a successful private practice for 12 years. I also spent 7 years in the human medical field as a Massachusetts state-licensed acupuncturist.

At the beginning of my medical writing career, I served as a staff writer for Channing Bete Corporation, a nationally-renowned healthcare publisher, where I created educational materials for both patients and medical staff--and gained an understanding of team work and project development.

Then, as a freelancer, I initially wrote educational content for websites sponsored by AstraZeneca, textbook chapters for Houghton-Mifflin, healthcare news, and edited video scripts, website content, and PowerPoint training presentations.

To improve my editing skills, I enrolled in an editing program at the University of Chicago's Graham School. Shortly thereafter, I began providing medical conference coverage to Medscape/WebMD and also began receiving more and more assignments for CME projects and grant proposals.
